History of Colchester Golf Club

Just over 100 years ago the famous James Braid laid out the 18 holes that we are privileged to play today. Some lengthening and tightening has taken place since then; and with the recent addition of a 6-hole practice course and a managed range the golf course has continually been kept up-to-date.

The original Clubhouse, extended several times, retains a traditional golf club feel yet caters well for modern needs in a less formal style than of old.

Centenary Year

Our centenary year, in 2007, saw the club celebrate in style, our centenary pages are dedicated to those celebrations and a great collection of resources from 2007 and the previous 100 years are to be found by following the link to Centenary Home Page opposite. Several short Centenary-year videos and other memorabilia are accessible on the link including an audiovisual story of Colchester Golf Club's first 100 years. Centenary Books are still available at £10, ties at £15 and prints at £30 (rolled) or £75 (framed) all available from the Secretary’s office.
